What Does It Mean To Be A Single Christian Mom?
Never would I have ever thought to see the day that I would be a single mom. Don't get me wrong, I love
being a single mom, but this isn't how I would want it to be forever though. It has been a very
interesting and challenging experience for me becoming a single mom and I have learned so much along
God gives us so many different trials and experiences to learn and grow from, and I believe that during
this season of being a single mom, has allowed me to strengthen my faith in Him. I have being able to
solely focus on God and His will for me and my daughter, and to not get so distracted by certain sins or
temptations of the world. There has been a lot of different learning experiences throughout this journey
and to me, being a single Christian mom means that God still loves me and cares for me, and has a
different path set out for me in my life.
Let's take a look at some important aspects of and what it means to be a single Christian mom:
1. Our Wisdom Comes From God
When you become a new mom, you don't always know what you are doing. You are constantly seeking
help and support from others, or reading different parenting books, just to get by. There is something
else, though, that we, as single Christian moms have, and that is our wisdom stems from God. Our major
support network is from God Himself and He guides us to where we need to be/go on this parenting
2. There Is Purity
As I mentioned before, becoming a single mom has allowed me to solely focus on God and my daughter,
rather than being distracted by or tempted by certain sins of the world (such as lust and fornication).
This isn't easy, because we are only human and we can get lonely or feel as though we need certain love
and attention from others, but, this is why we need to put all of our faith and trust in God, so that He
can help us get through these temptations.
3. We Have Unique Strength
Has anyone ever told you that you are a super mom? Someone told me that once and I was so thrilled to
receive such a compliment. It got me thinking though, being a single Christian mom gives us unique
strength, and that very strength comes from God (Philippians 4:13).
4. We Are Not Alone
We are not alone, for God is with us. When you hear the words "single mom" you might assume that
they are "alone". We are not alone though. We have God who is always with us and there for us. We
also have our children and our family and friends.
5. Perfection Is Overrated
All moms are doing it tough, whether they are single or not. Being a single Christian mom has taught me
to strive towards doing God's Will over perfectionism. Perfection is overrated, especially as a single
mom. There WILL be hardships, there WILL be struggles, there WILL be times when you fail. You just need to pick yourself back up and keep going. God's grace and love is unconditional and everlasting,
regardless of how perfect or imperfect you are. You are His child, no matter what.
There is more to it than meets the eyes when it comes to defining what a single Christian mom is. It
doesn't mean that you are perfect, or there aren't any struggles, it means that you have an all-powerful,
everlasting God that is always there to hold your hand and guide you through this journey into single
I pray that you are encouraged by these words that I have written and just know that whether or not you are a single Christian mom, you are doing an amazing job and God loves you!
